Know that you are not alone. Loneliness is a natural thing for every human being, but it can make you feel like an abnormal person. Try contacting friends or family members you can talk to about this issue. In addition to telling you about what you feel, ask also if they have experienced the same thing. By contacting others and sharing experiences, you will not fear of living alone.
– You can say, “Lately I like to feel lonely and wondering if you too have felt the same way”.
– If there are no friends or family members you can chat with, try contacting your teacher, meeting a counselor, or a spiritual director.
Instead of just letting yourself lonely, try to do anything that can free your mind to no longer think about loneliness. Start walking, biking, or reading a book. Do not be afraid to try things you’ve never done by doing new activities or looking for new hobbies. Having lots of experience, there’s something you can tell others about (so you can talk to more people). In addition, you can also start interesting conversations for others. Look for the bustle. Loneliness will emerge slowly if you keep silent and do nothing. Try to find busy by working or doing other activities that you like.
Do the activities you love on your own. Do not decide not to go out and enjoy the activities you love just because there’s no one you can go with. If one day you want to go out to dinner or watch a movie at the cinema, go alone to a restaurant you like or go to the movies. Although at first, you may feel awkward to do this alone because you are used to company, just do it. Nothing strange if you go and do the activities alone! Remember why you did it so you can enjoy this activity again as usual.
