A compressor is a power unit from the air conditioning system. When the air conditioner is run, the compressor will change the working fluid/refrigerant in the form of gas from low pressure to gas with high pressure. This high-pressure gas is then passed back to the condenser.
The condenser is a device used to change or cool a high-pressure gas to become a high-pressure liquid. This liquid is then transferred to the orifice tube.
An orifice tube is a place where the high-pressure liquid is lowered by pressure and the temperature becomes a cold, low-pressure liquid. In some systems, in addition to installing the orifice tube, other components are also installed, namely the expansion valve.
The expansion valve is the most important component in this system. It’s because this is designed to control the flow of coolant through the orifice valve which then converts the liquid into vapor when the coolant leaves the expansion valve and enters the evaporator/cooler.
The refrigerant absorbs heat in the room through a cooling coil then the evaporator fan blows cold air into the room. The refrigerant in the evaporator then turns into low-pressure steam, but still contains a little liquid in it. A mixture of refrigerant then enters the accumulator or dryer. This can also apply like a second mouth/orifice for liquids that turn into pure low-pressure steam, before going through the compressor to then get the pressure circulating inside the system again. Usually, this evaporator is fitted with silicon which serves to absorb moisture from refrigerants.
